What it's all about ..
Ckit.co.za launched a weekly newsletter commencing beginning September 2001.
The newsletter is free to all recipients and contains articles, press-releases, notices and general news from the local industry, which should be of interest to individuals working within the materials handling field.
The weekly newsletter will be sent to individuals via Email and will contain a prcis of each of the news articles, in bullet form.
Once this short Email is downloaded by the recipient, the recipient can decide at a glance whether any of the items are of interest and if so, can access the full article by downloading the larger file.
Where will the subject matter be sourced ?
As with the Engineering Handbook, Ckit promotes the dissemination of non-proprietary information which is of interest to the visitors to this portal site.
Items of interest or of educational value should be provided by visitors to ckit.co.za, by suppliers, contracting firms and end-users of equipment.
In agreement with established publishing companies and newspapers, some information included in the Ckit Newsletter will be re-printed from their publications, where appropriate and applicable.
Who will receive the Ckit Newsletter ?
Some 3400 individuals will receive the Ckit Newsletter, twice monthly.
Recipients include designers, buyers, managers, trainees, instructors, artisans, equipment suppliers and users, plant operators and process engineers.
This list is expanding rapidly as individuals register to receive the newsletter and as the Ckit Engineering Handbook receives greater publicity.
Ckit also request individuals to provide details of colleagues and clients whom they would like to invite to receive the newsletter.
Why the need for a Newsletter ?
The Newsletters promote awareness for www.ckit.co.za and in so doing, actively advertises the Portal and the Engineering Handbooks' content and participants' details.
The Newsletter is a cost-effective marketing vehicle for advertisers and for promotions.
The Newsletter provides an opportunity for institutions, individuals, companies and institutes to communicate with the community around this Portal and to share the benefit of their experience and expertise. The Ckit Newsletter is a forum where information can be requested and solutions provided.
A portal site is interactive. The site must provide visitors with information which is useful and immediately available alternatively, the portal must direct a visitor to the correct source for additional assistance. The newsletter will therefore provide updates of new content at the portal which is provided as a direct result of requests from the portals' Community.
A database of useful information from industry is gradually built up and is accessible to visitors. A search facility will enable back-issues to be searched for specific details.
